Day 1: Hanoi - Ba Be Lake & Kayaking (L/D)
Highlights and activities: Nang River, Ba Be Lake, Puong Cave, Widow Island, Cam village
10-13 km kayaking on river
7:00-7:30am: Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi by car to Bac Kan. During the 5-hour drive, towards Ba Be National Park.
12:00-12:30pm: Stop for a traditional Vietnamese lunch along the way.
Afternoon: Arrive at Boc Lom pier. After a quick briefing on kayaking techniques and being equipped with dry bags, sportswear, and life jackets, you'll set off on a 10-13 km journey down the Nang River. Explore the Puong Cave by both boat and kayak, moving through its dark, cool chambers and listening to the rustling of bats overhead — an adrenaline-pumping yet mesmerizing experience.
Cross the Nang River and tackle some steep, rocky terrain featuring sharp cat ear cliffs — a thrilling challenge for adventurers seeking that extra edge.
After the kayaking session, hop on a motorboat back to Ba Be Lake. Swimming is available here.
Evening: Getting to Jungle Lake house and enjoying your night with BBQ dinner.
Day 2: Tham Phay Cave Expedition (B/L/D)
07:00 - 07:30: Pick-up from your homestay with a brief introduction and preparation session.
08:00 - 08:30: After a thirty-minute drive, you'll reach Tham Phay Cave, the hike starts with a steep uphill leading into the forest. Some rock at the top, and then a similar slope before the trail fades and you enter the valley. Turning west of the trail is a large patch of rock for you to find your way through, with the help and direction of your guide and safety team. The precarious entrance is at the end of the forest.
Enjoy some snacks before delving into the cave exploration.
Step deep into Tham Phay Cave and marvel at the mysterious beauty of nature. The further you go, the more striking features you’ll uncover — from towering ceiling domes to layered rock formations, creating mesmerizing patterns along the cave walls. This thrilling journey lasts around 5 hours, exploring the 5km-long underground river cave — a hidden wonder yet to be fully studied by geologists. Take a short break to enjoy some light snacks before continuing into the second branch of the cave system. Marvel at the magnificent stalagmites millions of years old, navigate through treacherous sinkholes, and feel the heat flows pulsing from the cave’s depths
Leaving Tham Phay, you will return to the cave entrance and return to the original pick up point.
Day 3: Ba Be Lake - Hanoi (B/L)
7:30 - Breakfast at our homestay. Breakfast at our homestay. Begin a beautiful journey in Ba Be National Park from Bo Lu village. A guided conversation on local wildlife and flowers will expand your awareness of the unique Ba Be ecosystem as you walk through the beautiful jungle.
Reach Tham Khit pathways to an ancient cave - wandering around the lake to the panoramic views of the ranger station’s animal observation huts. Continue your hike for another 2 kilometers to An Ma temple, a sacred Tay temple dedicated to mountain gods, lake gods, and feudal generals. Have lunch and enjoy your time in Ba Be National Park. Return to Hanoi. Tour ends.

What To Take
Clothing: 1 quick-dry long pants and 1 long-sleeve shirt for the trip, plus 1 set of clothes to change into after the tour.
Footwear: Hiking boots/shoes suitable for rough terrain and 1 pair of thick, calf-length socks (no ankle socks).
Bag: A medium-sized (25L) backpack for your water bottle, personal items, and the cave helmet provided.
Personal items: Mosquito repellent, sunglasses, hat, camera.
Essentials: Light, comfortable clothes for outdoor activities, sturdy walking shoes, and a small day pack for hiking.
Important: Don’t forget your passport.
Recommended extras: Insect repellent, sunscreen, raincoat, and sun hat.
Children Policy
Children 1-4 years old: FOC with 2 adults (parents pay for other expenses; no seat for 1-3 years old in the car). If one adult travels with a 1-3-year-old child, the child pays 50% of the adult price (with meals and a seat).
Children 5-9 years old: Charged 75% of the tour fee (with meals and a seat, but share the hotel room with parents).
Children 10 and older are considered adults.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation: Must be in writing and is only effective once acknowledged by Charming Viet Nam Travel
Free cancellation: More than 15 days before travel date.
30% charge: 15 days or less before travel date.
55% charge: 7 days or less before the tour starts.
100% charge: 2 days or less before the tour starts.
No refunds for force majeure events, or if the client leaves the tour after it starts, misses any scheduled activities, or does not show up.
